May 1, 2018— Investors of the Alborz Credit Institute in Karaj, west of Tehran in Iran are rallying outside the “Mellat House” in this city demanding their savings.
State security forces are resorting to tear gas in an attempt to disperse the growing crowd. Protesters are standing up to these measures and chanting:
“Shame on you, shame on you”
A number of protesters are reportedly injured as a result of this attack.
In Mashhad, northeast Iran, investors of the Caspian and Afzal-Tous credit firms are rallying outside the governor’s office and chanting slogans against Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and other senior regime officials.
The Caspian firm is said to be affiliated to the Revolutionary Guards and Afzal-Tous to the Shaheed Foundation that is known for plundering people’s savings in Iran.
The protesters are chanting:
“Rouhani, you liar, where is our money”
“Rouhani, Rouhani, shame on you”
“They stole our money and lie about giving it back”
These protesters also demand the resignation of Central Bank chief Valiollah Seif.
