Tuesday, March 13, 2013-The history teaches us that in fear of widespread welcoming of traditional Feast of Fire by women, youth, and activists and turning it to an anti-regime demonstration, the Iranian regime threatened to use secret police and cups in cities.
Jafar Kordloo, an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officer expressed that “police will use its full capacity to maintain security during the Fire Festival.”
“We will exert our utmost power to secure (North Western Province of Zanjan) the province during the Fire Festival, as we will apply restricted and tight measures against law breakers’, and will detain them for the rest of the New Year’s Holiday(starting on March 21st for 13 days)”, he said.
He also added: “we will use the ‘Provisional Police’ [read plain clothes] agents and deploy them in crowded areas, being unrecognizable for the public. The Provisional Police Force was officially stablished in 2015, but has been around since the beginning of the Iranian Regime.
Through out the history, during the festival – which dates back to the 7th Century – Iranians traditionally celebrate by lighting bonfires and jumping through the flames.
“Charshanbe Soori” is an ancient Persian Festival Of Fire and one of the most favorite celebrations among Iranian people. This festival has historic and ceremonial backgrounds. This year Iranians will hold this fire festival on March 13, 2018 at sunset of the last Wednesday of the Persian year.
In this fire festival, Bushes and wood are piled in public places like streets, alleys and squares and set alight. Then People gather around it and jump over the fire while shouting. They do this hoping for enlightenment and happiness throughout the coming year. With the help of fire, the people are reminded of the long battle against the dictatorship and ignorance of the reactionary forces throughout their history and especially the 39 years of dark era of the ruling mullahs in Iran from 1979 up until now.
In recent years, security forces have been cracking down on celebration up to two months before it begins by banning firecrackers, sparklers, rockets and even homemade grenades.
The Iranian Fire Festival has its origin in ancient Iranian rituals. The ancient Iranians celebrated the festival the last five days of the year in honor of the New Year. The festival also coincided with festivals celebrating the creation of fire and humans.
Considering 28 December uprising, shows that any possible reunion of the Iranian People is a potential threat to the Iranian Regime. The Iranian people are well informed about the regimes maneuvers and policies. In addition, the recent call of the People’s Mujahidin Organization of Iran to the society has caused a very serious threat to the Iranian Regime. The regime is afraid of new possible slaps by the people.
