Iran: protests by students in the face of the regime’s suppression

NCRI, 02 June 2010 – Following widespread protests by students at the Melli University in Tehran against a visit by the mullahs’ President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the chairman of the so-called disciplinary committee, Talebi, has summoned more than 300 students, saddling 40 of them with heavy sentences, including expulsion.

In reaction to these suppressive moves, students at Melli University have called on their colleagues to form a protest gathering on June 15, 2010 at the central square of the campus.

Separately, students at Polytechnic University distributed portraits of their imprisoned colleague and activist, Majid Tavakkoli, at various parts of campus and demanded his immediate release.
