Iran: Protesters demonstrate against the presence of repressive agents outside Tehran’s Theater

Repressive agents of the so-called “Guidance” police, accompanied by female officers and plainclothes agents were deployed at Tehran’s Vahdat Amphitheater at 9:30 am Sunday morning, January 31st. They were seen being positioned around this site and adjacent streets of Shahriar, Nofel Lushatu, Enghelab and Vaezi, harassing those seeking to the enter the hall.
Female police officers distressing two ladies at the amphitheater entrance caused an outrage and protests by artists and other people at the site.
The amphitheater was the site of a film festival, an eyewitness said. The presence of these agents around the amphitheater made various people, art college students and artists concerned over the fact that similar to the year before “Guidance” agents would begin harassing the people and take action to interfere with the entire film festival.
The presence of male and female police officers at the film festival raised protests against the representative of the Minister of Guidance in the hall, and the agents were forced to leave the site fearing a major and widespread protest act by the people.
