Iran: Protest of retired social security workers in front of Majlis

On Monday November 6, 2010, at 10 am, retired social security workers staged a protest in front of the mullahs’ Majlis (parliament). Retired workers from the cities of Shahr-e Ray, Eslamshahr, Tehran, Karaj and Qazvin, and some of the current workers took part in this protest and announced their demands, which included a 15% increase in their 2010 wage contrary to the 6% that the government announced. The workers also had other demands which included supplementary insurance and other concessions that were mentioned in a declaration. By chanting loud slogans they tried to reach their voices to the representatives in Majlis in order to get a response from them. The workers read out their declaration and commitments were made by some of the Majlis representatives regarding the implementation of their demands, yet the workers scheduled a gathering in the near future if their demands were not answered.
