A group of deceived shareholders of the Padideh Shandiz industrial project in the city of Mashhad gathered in Kerman, central Iran to protest the corruption in one of the government affiliated organizations. This protest gathering was called in advance through social media for a rally outside the local governorate. The demonstrators demanded to be reimbursed the money they had paid for shares of this project in which they never got any money or interests from it.
According to reports that were filed to the PMOI website, the number of demonstrators grew larger and larger toward midday. One of the demonstrators told a reporter on the scene that their gathering is aimed at finding a solution to their problem as well as voicing their complaint against the authorities.
Another demonstrator said millions of dollars have been collected from us since 8 months ago. All our assets and livelihoods have been placed on this bogus project and all we are hearing from the justice minister and other judiciary authorities are empty words and no actions. Therefore we decided to take to streets and voice our complaints.
A woman shareholder said “I am a housewife. I sold all my jewelries to come up with the money to buy these shares. The people who have gathered here come from all walks of life.”
