Mrs. Narges Mohammadi, the prominent rights’ activist and lawyer who has been detained for being vocal against human rights violation in Iran has been barred from having phone calls with her children. The imprisoned vice president of the Center of Human Rights Advocates, wrote a letter protesting her 7-month long deprivation of talking to her children. Seven female political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison are deprived of making phone calls with their children, she added.
The ward of political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in Evin Prison, with 27 prisoners, is “the only ward” where prisoners have “no means” of making a telephone call with their families, Mohammadi continued in her letter.
Is this treatment of prisoners anything but “human rights violations, violating the rights of the child, violating women’s rights” and “a show of a state’s violence against women and mothers?”
Prison officials have even “prevented” her family from bringing any pictures of her children for her. In response to her request she was told “orders were issued to treat you like this.”
