A prisoner of section 7 in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison died on Monday, January 16 due to lack of medical care, reports say.
The prisoner, Saeid Nohi, had a cardiac attack at 9 am, on Monday, and was rushed to the prison clinic by his cell mates. The prison doctor only gave him a pill, despite other prisoners’ insistence that he should be taken to an outside hospital due to his critical condition. In reaction to the prisoners’ protest, the prison guards expelled them from the clinic. Eventually, at 1230 afternoon, the shift guard informs the prisoner’s cellmate that he had died and that they should gather his belongings and deliver them to the post.
