Iran: Pressures on Urumia prisoners to end their hunger strike

Prison authorities in Urumia central prison, Ward No. 12, continue to put more pressures on hunger strikers to end their strike. Increasing pressures are exerted at the time when the health conditions of a number of political prisoners including Shirkouh Hassan-poor, Sirvan Najavi, Ali Afshari, Ali-Reza Rasouli and Abdouallh Amoui have deteriorated due to the continuous hunger strike. Ali Rasouli was transferred to the prison clinic after experiencing pains due to severe weaknesses. Ali rejected receiving IVs despite the physicians to inject him some nutritional fluids.
It is necessary to note that the political prisoners in Urumia Central Prison stared an unlimited hunger strike to protest the mixing of common criminals with political prisoners in one area, but the prison authorities have ignored their demand and continue to bring more common prisoners in the Political prisoners’ special ward.
