An Iranian political prisoner in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison has been assigned to go to a hospital outside prison due to severity of his problem and to receive treatment for a skin illness.
However, he was not transferred after refusing to wear the mandatory prison clothing and have his hands cuffed, saying such measures are illegal. This prisoner has been on hunger strike for more than a week, protesting the authorities’ refusal to agree with his conditioned release.
Golestani was arrested by the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence Organization on 31 July 2013 and transferred to ward 2A in Evin Prison, a section controlled by the IRGC.
