Iran: one of the most senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards commanders killed in Syria

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) Commander, Brigadier Gen. Hussein Hamanani was killed while in a tour of duty in Syria, the Guards Corp news agency, Fars reported Friday, October 9, 2015.
According to the IRGC, he was killed during clashes in the suburb of Aleppo on Thursday. Iran state run media gave a brief biography of Gen. Hamadani.
He was deputy commander of the Imam Hussein base belonging to the IRGC, also the top advisor to the chief commander of the IRGC. Gen. Hamadani was a former commander of one the most infamous Corp in the IRGC which was involved in the Iran-Iraq war. Hussein Hamadani was one of the core founders and organizers of the IRGC in West of Iran, close to the Iraqi border. He also commanded one of the brigades involved in the Eternal Light Operation when the MEK forces advanced toward Kermanshah back in 1988.
But the most important position he had held was the deputy commander of the terrorist Quds force currently headed by Gen. Qassem Suleiman.
