According to the public prosecutor’s office in the town of Pardis, one of the largest restaurants in Tehran located on the East side of the capital has been shut down for “not abiding by sharia and legal guidelines”.
This measure by the public prosecutor “is in line with the cultural attack” staged recently, said Heydar Fattahi.
He did not mention the restaurant’s name yet added the owner had been known to host “co-ed” ceremonies.
“Coffee shops must not be located in front of women’s salons or girls high schools,” said Iskandar Azmude, head of the Tehran Coffee Shops, Ice Cream and Fruit Juice Stores Guild.
