Russia economic minister who is visiting Tehran expressed optimism that an agreement with Iran over ’oil for Russian goods’ will be signed soon. Alexi Oliokiyaf said he was optimistic of reaching an agreement with Iran’s economic minister in the near future. He insisted that Russia, based on this agreement, can export tools and equipment for Iran’s oil and gas industry, heavy machinery for agriculture, cars and planes to Iran.
The “Oil for goods” deal that Iran is pursuing is the indicative of the impasse the Iranian regime is facing due to international sanctions. Undoubtedly this deal with Russia is the violation of international sanctions and the US government has time and again warned Russia that going through with such a deal would bring further punishment to that country.
