Iran: Nurses in city west of Tehran continue protests

Nurses of Ghaem Hospital in Karaj staged a rally at 9 am on Sunday, August 9 protesting recent plans presented by Hassan Rouhani’s Health Ministry. A representative of the Health Ministry came to the site for an inspection, and faced major criticism from the protesters. The nurses used this opportunity to raise their demands on receiving adequate wages in line with their work hours, and to have discrimination banished from their place of work.
On this very day in the city of Rafsanjan, central Iran, nurses and personnel of Ali ibn Abi-Taleb Hospital held a rally in the hospital courtyard. Like their colleagues they had demanded the Health Ministry plan to be revoked.
