Marking the birthday of Kianoosh Asa, a martyr of the 2009 uprising in Iran, his mother and other family members held a gathering at his gravesite in Kermanshah, western Iran. His family, joined by their friends and relatives, commemorated his memory in their ceremony on March 19, marking the last day of the previous Iranian calendar year.
Kianoosh Asa was a very gifted student studying for his master’s degree in Tehran’s Science and Industry University. He was gunned down outside a paramilitary Bassij base on June 15, 2009 during that year’s nationwide uprisings across Iran. He was then kidnapped by state agents and three days later his dead body was found in the coroners.
