Iran: Mother deprived of visiting jailed son

The mother of Amin Anvari, an imprisoned civil activist and student of Tehran’s Amir Kabir University, has been banned from visiting her son after she participated in civil gatherings in Tehran.
This mother said she is demanding her son’s unconditional release and, “I will focus my efforts and stop at nothing to the very last moment for my son’s release.”
Anvari was arrested on October 4 and under a ruling issued by the Evin Prison prosecutor’s office he was detained after his home was searched and belongings confiscated.
The court hearing for this civil activist was recently held in branch 26 of Tehran’s so-called revolution court, and he was sentenced to a total of 2½ years in jail on charges of propaganda against the state, insulting the leader, insulting the supreme leader and state officials (Mesbah Yazdi) on Facebook. This ruling was then changed to 5 years under suspension.
Anvari is 21 years old and was in his 5th term studying software engineering in Amir Kabir University.
