On Saturday, marking the last day of the Iranian calendar year, over 500 workers and employees of the “Naghsh-e Jahan” project in Isfahan held a protest rally and demanded their delayed paychecks. The angry and fed-up workers said they are unable to provide for their families for the Persian New Year celebrations. The protesters blocked the entrance and exit gates of the site, and forced all the cranes to stop their activities. The protesting workers also threatened to destroy many of the site’s constructed monuments if their demands go unaddressed.
