Iran: man attempts suiicide protesting government of lies, crackdown and poverty

Around noon on Tuesday, July 8th, a man attempted to commit suicide in Tehran, causing long traffic jams and thousands of people gathering in the area.
This 36-year old man, whose name has not been announced, wore a cover with the writing “Lies, crackdown and poverty”, climbed up a pole in a Tehran square and threatened to throw himself down.
Iranian regime elements, fearing the growing number of people in the area, dispatched firefighters and trucks to the scene to bring the man down.
According to reports from inside Iran, the firefighter agents first were able to give promises and convince the man to come down. However, state police agents immediately arrested him and took him to an unknown location.
It is said the man intended to protest and raise attention to people’s status quo.
