Iran: Lordegan residents clash with security farces

A large number of Bakhtiari people from the city of Lordegan , Chahar-Mahal province gathered in front of governor’s building on Sunday Nov. 30th to protest the unlawful entry to their houses and confiscation of their weapons. The security forces entered the people’s houses in Lordegan and surrounding villages and confiscated dozens of hunting rifles under pretext of unregistered guns. People who were angry of the agents braking into their houses and searching and confiscating their rifles, demanded to have their weapons back, but after the guards’ denial, they clashed with security forces.
The report notes that people in this region are known for keeping and using weapons. They believe their weapons are their honor and their reputation, and they use these weapons for target practicing, hunting, celebrations and as a means of self-defense.
