
Kurdish political prisoner Behruz Alekhani has been executed alongside five other prisoners in Iran. These executions were carried in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26th in Urumieh Central Prison.
It is reported that Alekhani’s family sought to “obtain a letter from court to receive the body of their child.”
Alekhin, born in 1985, was arrested on 27 January 2010 by intelligence agents in the city of Salmas. He was detained for nearly 19 months in security detention centers in the cities of Salmas, Khuy and Urumieh in northwestern Iran where he was placed under physical and psychological torture. The was charged with having links to the killing of the Khuy public prosecutor. The Iranian regime executed him while his appeal’s case was under investigation by the Suprem Court.
