Iran: Inhumane pressure on the prisoners in the Kermanshah “Dizelabad” Prison, despite severe cold and lack of heating facilities

Prison authorities at the Kermanshah “Dizelabad” prison, are subjecting prisoners to subfreezing whether, as a method of torture, while depriving them of any heating facilities. According to reports from inside the prison, the prisoners are forced to leave their cells to go to the prison yard from morning till noon, and again after lunch, to expose them to extreme cold weather. The prisoners lack warm clothing, and are agonized from severe cold during the period spent outside their cells.
According to this report, even elderly and ill prisoners, and those who cannot walk, are not allowed to stay in their cells, and are forced to go outside in subfreezing temperatures. Those prisoners who protest against this inhumane procedure are forced to go outside, and are then subjected to beating by prison guards. This is despite the fact that ill prisoners have to wait for weeks for their turn to visit the doctor at the prison infirmary.
