Iran: Increasing taxes for issuing tags to vehicles

Iranian regime’s parliament has adopted a resolution allowing the suppressive security forces to charge the car tag applicant more in order to cover the budget deficit due to falling oil prices. This resolution was approved during an open session in the parliament on Feb. 23rd and while the budget bill was presented by the security and foreign policy committees, it was voted in action.
According to the resolution the security forces are legally permitted to overcharge car tag number applicants for both private and transport vehicles. The bill provides a surcharge of 100,000 tomans for vehicles costing over 50 million tomans and 50,000 tomans for vehicles less than 50 million tomans.
Therefore as of March 20th, the Iranian New Year, each car owner has to pay an extra 50,000 tomans at least and the transport vehicles must pay 100,000 tomans extra to receive their license tags.
