10,000 locals of Ahvaz rallied on Thursday, September 4th, transferring the waters of Karoon River. The protesters were chanting slogans in defense of Karoon River, holding posters against Hassan Rouhani written: “Rouhani you liar, what happened to all your promises; Karoon River lives on, death to dictator, Viva freedom.”
Ahvaz residents formed a human chain on Thursday evening at Karoon River, protesting the rerouting of these waters. They also protested the pressures imposed by senior Iranian regime officials trying to also transfer this river’s waters in an area called Behesht Abad. The protesters demanded an end to all such projects diverting Karoon River waters.
