Khamenei has warned Rafsanjani to not run for the Assembly of Expert, A.E., top job.
According to ISNA news agency, Gholam-reza Mesbahi Moghaddam, Khamenei’s point man said: the general sense shows and the majority of Assembly of Experts’ members agree that Hashemi Shahroudi has a better chance of winning to top job. Referring to Rafsanjani, he added “the oldest is not necessarily the best for the A.E. presidency”.
Ahmad Khatami a member of A.E. executive board said: “after I saw some “reformists” websites and newspapers complaining why we said that Rafsanjani has no desire for presidency, I now say that he is a candidate, but again I emphasize that our elites are not seeking presidency”.
