Jalal Salehpour, instructor of the “Ghaya” dance group and a cultural activist, was arrested by the police intelligence unit in Tabriz, while the reasons behind this apprehension remain unknown.
Jalal Salehpour (Bulout) was arrested in 2011 by the Tabriz Intelligence Department and was released a few days later on a 600 million rial bail (around $17,350).
Another dance group by the name of Lachin, that also provides courses on the Azerbaijan Turkish language, was preparing for a ceremony in Istanbul a few years before being prevented by security agents in arresting their instructor, which brought an end to all their cultural activities.
Currently the “Ghaya” Azerbaijan dance group has effectively been deprived of any activities following Salehpour’s arrest by intelligence agents.
