The head of Iran’s forests organization, Khodakaram Jalali; admitted that Iran’s forests have shrined by 14,000 hectare during past 3 decades.
As a deputy minister of agriculture, Jalali said on Sunday that the government should pay more attention to the ecological and material values of our forests, because the country loses an annual of one trillion tomans to the destruction of forests and the expansion of dry lands.
He admitted that the source of dust storm in Khuzestan last month was internal and due to the government incompetency. Jalali said: the dust storm in the southern part of the country happened after the ponds in the south dried out. Therefore the blasting winds blew the tiny dusts of 2 to 5 microns and displaced them from one place to another.
This regime official admitted that the annual loss due to the “deserting phenomena” reaches approximately one trillion tomans, adding that 7 million hectares of crisis centers have been identified in the country, whereas the budget allocated for saving forests and the environment is quite narrow and approximately 3 million tomans which is nothing in compare to the devastation we are facing with.
