The ruling of 30 lashes was handed down for 5 soccer fans in the city of Ardebil, northwest Iran, and was carried out in this city’s prison. These activists had raised a placard during a soccer match calling for the release of Abbas Lessani and other political prisoners.
These names of these activists are Toheed Amir Amini, Morteza Parvin, Meitham Jolani, Saleh Pichganlu, Mostafa Parvin and Mohsen Mohsenzadeh.
An appeals court had sentenced these activists each to three months in prison and 30 lashes on charges of “disrupting order and public peace in soccer stadiums by chanting ethnic and nationalistic slogans.”
