Political prisoner Maryam Akbari Monfared is banned from any medical treatment or leave from prison for medical reasons, and this is despite her dire physical condition.

She was arrested in 2009. She has been charged with moharebeh (enmity to God) for her affiliation to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. In May 2011, after protesting to prison conditions and writing several letters to Mr. Ahmed Shaheed, she was transferred to the woman’s ward in the Evin Prison, where she was been serving her time up to now.
