Iran: Extreme harsh conditions imposed on an exiled political prisoner

Extreme conditions has been imposed on Mohammad-Amin Abdullahi, a political prisoner held in the city of Birjand, northeastern Iran. After being held in the prison quarantine section for a long period he was transferred to a ward where old prisoners and/or those suffering from various illnesses are held.
Abdullahi is married with one child. His family cannot come to visit him since they live in the city of Bukan in West Azerbaijan Province, northwest Iran, located at least 1,200 kilometers west of Birjand. The family is also barely making ends meet.
He was arrested in the fall of 2005 and after spending 15 months behind bars in limbo the Mahabad “revolution” court sentenced him to a total of 18 years in prison and to be exiled in the city of Tabas, northeastern Iran. The charges raised against him were “moharebe” (enmity against God) and propaganda against the state.
