
NCRI, 4 Feb 2013 – Iran’s State Security Forces’ commander announced the formation of a new “honorary police” on the eve of the upcoming sham presidential election.
SSF chief Esmael Ahmadi Moghaddam at a meeting of SSF Special Units said that the “honorary police” will be working alongside of Special Units during the upcoming election in June, state-run news agency ISNA reported on Monday.
Ahmadi Moghaddam warned that “the enemy has plans to cause tensions in the society.”
Iran regularly uses plainclothes agents in the suppression of public protests. They were widely involved in criminal activities during the 2009 uprisings. The announcement of the formation of the new force is an official acknowledgment to the plans of using the plainclothes agents to suppress any unrest during election period.
