The city of Birjand, the capital of Southern Khorasan province, east of Iran was the scene of protest by bakers on Dec. 7th and 8th complaining of high cost of flour. Bakers gathered in front of the governorate office in Birjand demanding the return to the previous flour prices. They said customers blame us for the increase in bread prices and think that we pocket the extra money, where we have to pay more for the flour and other basic ingredients. The high prices of bread has only benefitted the government and everybody else, including us are losing money.
