On the 40th day of passing of Ms. Nayere Jalali Mohajier, known to her friends, families and relatives of victims of the 1980s executions in Iran as “Mother Beh-kish” a memorial ceremony held in her honor.
Mother Beh-kish was amongst the group of “Khavaran Mothers” who had lost five of her own children and a son-in-law after the Iranian regime executed them throughout the 1980s.
Mother Beh-kish had once said in a gathering of grieving mothers: “They killed my son Mohammad in February 1982, Siamak in October 1981, Zahra in September 1983, Mohsen in February 1986, and Mahmoud and Ali in September 1988. Zahra had a Master’s Degree in Physics and was a teacher. She could have had a wealthy life, but she couldn’t tolerate seeing the hungry people in the streets. These murderers killed her and her husband, Siamak. They didn’t return the bodies of any of my children to me. Losing a child is very hard.
“They killed Mahmoud and Ali in September 1988. Three months later they only gave us their handbags. They didn’t even give me their wills and merely said, ‘We tore them up.’
“I yelled, I begged, just tell me where did you bury them? They wouldn’t. For a long time I kept on searching in vain between Evin Prison and Behesht-e Zahra cemetery.
“I have spent most of my life outside of prisons waiting for a visit, and also in cemeteries. I only wish for patience for all the mothers, and hope your children will not have died in vain.”
The funeral cemetery of Mother Behkish was held on Monday, January 4 with family and friends attending.
