On Wednesday, February 18, 2015 afternoon 6 kurdish political prisoners in Urumia Central Prison were transferred to the solitary prior to their execution possibly on Thursday. These 6 political prisoners include: Saman Nasim, 22 who was a juvenile at the time of arrest, Younes Aghayan, Habibollah Afshari, Ali Afshari, Siravan Nejadi and Ibrahim Shapouri. These 6 have been removed from Ward 12 of the Central Urumia prison and are in imminent danger of being hanged.
Reports indicate that the IRGC intelligence is insisting on the execution of these 6 political prisoners. This is despite an international outcry to annual the execution of Saman Nasim and recent plea by Ahmad Shaheed, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran to stop these executions.
