Nearly 10,000 people hired by the petrochemical units refused to receive food stuffs at their place of work, and they are on hunger strike at their work site. These workers belong to Port Khomeini petrochemical units (6,000 individuals), Tondguyan petrochemical unit (1,500 individuals), Bu Ali petrochemicals (1,000 individuals) and Alvand petrochemicals (2,000 individuals).
These workers have launched their hunger strike due to the pressures imposed by the regime’s elements in the Khuzestan Oil Company. Regime elements have removed these workers from pensions provided by this oil company and they have formed a private company by the name of Holding. As a result they told the workers all previous pensions are cancelled since the company is now a private firm. The workers’ wages have to be calculated as contract workers, resulting in these workers not receiving their pensions for the past 6 months.
