A group of storeowners in Tehran’s Tajrish district went on strike on Monday, August 18th, protesting the increasing rate of electricity fees. The striking storeowners rallied outside the electricity department in this area.


Southern Iran
The locals of a village near Port Khomeir in southern Iran clashed with repressive police forces on Tuesday night, August 19th. According to reports received from this area the police opened fire on the people with armored vehicles and the people their attacks. Tensions have been running for a long time in this area. The people’s clashes in this village spread to five other areas and continued up to Wednesday night.

A group of people the Iranian capital’s Vanak Avenue rushed to the support of an old man on Tuesday, August 19th. This old man was in a scuffle with police agents who intended to arrest his daughter. The people prevented the arrest of this father’s 20-year gold.

Workers in a morgue in Tehran went on strike on Wednesday, August 20th, protesting not receiving their wages and paychecks. The protesters had blocked the commuting of trucks behind the morgue for many hours.

Street vendors in Tehran’s Sattari Square clashed with repressive agents who intended to round up their goods. The street vendors attacked one of the police forces’ vehicles and broke its windows. The police, fearing such protests spreading, responded by firing tear gas onto the protesters.
