In solidarity with Ghoncheh Ghavami in the Mullahs’ prison, her mother too has gone on hunger strike

Mrs. Gavami has written in her face book about the ordeal that she and her 26-year old daughter have gone through. Ghoncheh Ghavami with dual British-Iranian citizenship has recently returned to Iran from Britain to visit her family. She was arrested about 3 months ago when she had gone to see a volleyball match in a stadium. She has started a hunger strike to protest her detention
Her mother writes: “Yesterday, I finally saw my Ghoncheh. She’s been on a hunger strike since Wednesday. God, I can’t breathe…
She said that she is fed up with this 100 day incarceration and uncertainty. It’s been a while since the interrogations has stopped, but her detention has not ended. She has been banned from having visitors for no good reason for past 19 days. And during this time someone by the name of Dehlavi has visited her trying to present himself as her new lawyer, dismissing her previous one, Mr. Alizadeh Tabatabai. He even tried to pressure Ghoncheh to accept new charges. But Ghoncheh said she can’t tolerate this any longer and so she has begun a hunger strike. I will not touch food either until the day that my Ghoncheh will end her hunger strike. God, you’ve been my witness, I have remained silent for past 82 days so that my innocent daughter returns home. She hasn’t and now her life is in danger. I will no longer sit silent. Oh God please end this nightmare; give me strength to save my daughter, a piece of my heart.”
