French Finance Minister Emmanuelle Macron in the National Assembly referred to the heavy fines the French bank BNP Paribas paid for violating US sanctions on Iran, warning French companies not to haste in investing in Iran, and to not be naïve in this regard.
Macron condemned any measures prior to the implementation of the Vienna agreement and said, “I don’t another BNP Paribas case. This bank paid $8.9 billion in 2014 for transferring money for Sudanese, Iranian and Cuban customers in the US from 2004 to 2012 and violating sanctions in this regard.”
The French Finance Minister also described the trip made by the German economy and deputy chancellor to Tehran as too impetuous.
