Former regime Majlis members: This Iranian calendar year was politically painful

NCRI, 10 March 2010 – Former members of the Iranian regime’s Majlis (Parliament) referred to the Iranian calendar 1388, which is drawing to a close on March 20, as a painful year for the clerical regime ruling Iran. Emad Afrough said: “The year 1388 was not a good year in political terms. It was a year of anguish and grief,” state-run news agency ISNA reported on Monday.
Another former Majlis deputy referred to the incurable fissures within the regime and said, from a political standpoint, the year 1388 was “painful.”
He added: “In my experience of the Islamic revolution, this year was unprecedented. Divisions reached a climax … As such, divisions were becoming more like conflicts and we passed through a painful year.”
He also expressed worry over the prospects of the Iranian people’s uprising and said: “I do not consider the present circumstances to be smooth and calm.”
