Fine against France’s BNP bank for violating Iran sanctions increased to $16bn

Reuters announced the fine issued against France’s BNP Paribas Bank at $16 billion, raising it from the amount of $10 billion announced earlier. This fine is issued against this bank for violating Iran sanctions.
On Thursday US President Barack Obama referred to this fine during his trip to France, and in response to his French counterpart Francoise Hollande asking him to cancel the BNP punishment, stipulated the American judiciary is independent and he cannot intervene in this case.
