EU expresses deep concerns over Iran human rights violations

The European Union in its annual reported expressed concern s over the deteriorating human rights situation in Iran, adding the human rights situation under Rouhani’s tenure in 2014 saw no progress.
Referring to the continuing executions in Iran, this report asserts that EU Member States have on various occasions called on Iran to stop the executions.
The annual EU report on Iran’s human rights violations emphasizes the lack of fundamental freedoms and human rights violations, including women’s rights – all violations of Iran’s international commitments – continue to this very day.
This report confirms that in 2014 the EU supported the UN General Assembly resolution condemning human rights violations in Iran and extending the mission of Ahmed Shaheed, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran.
The EU report described Iran as a state of which there is grave concern over flagrant freedom of religions rights violations.
