Following clashes and escalating crises in Iraq and Syria, the Foreign Ministers of European Union countries in a recent meeting discussed the situation in the two countries and imposed new sanctions against Assad regime ministers and officials in Syria.
The bank accounts of individuals accused of human rights violations were blocked and they are no longer allowed to travel to European countries.
The EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting was to discuss the issue of Iraq on Monday but since the two crises of Iraq and Syria are so intertwined, they weighed the situation in both countries.
Most European countries have in line with the US called on Shiite officials in Iraq to form an inclusive government with the participation of all ethnic and religious groups.
