Egypt is committed to blacklist the Lebanese Hezbollah as terrorist group

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shokri acknowledged that “Egypt is committed to follow the Arab League resolution in listing the Lebanese Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.”
In an interview with the Al-Arabiya news Television, the FM added that “while respecting legal due process to finalize a clear response to the issue, Egypt will adhere to the decision made by the Arab League to blacklist the Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.”
Speaking with respect to Yemen and the return of the legitimate government to that country, Mr. Shokri said “Egypt was one of the first countries to support and confirm the legal and legitimate government of Yemen and has been working in total cooperation with the Arab Coalition to establish the common goals.”
The Egyptian foreign minister also expressed concern over the illegal arms shipment to Yemen by the Iranian regime which he said would exacerbates the already volatile situation in the region.
“Egypt’s role is of a vital one which would contribute to the security of the maritime borders of Yemen and it assures a screening policy to prevent any illegal weapons sent to the Houthi militants. It also insures the free and unfettered flow of shipping transit in the Red Sea. This would be in addition to Egypt’s involvement in the naval operation in the sea.”
Earlier this month, ships with cargos carrying weapons to the Houthis in Yemen were seized by US navy that was originated from Iran. The US Navy said Monday its forces in the Gulf had seized a shipment of weapons on March 28 believed to be from Iran that was destined for Houthi rebels fighting in Yemen.

Fox news and other news agencies cited Pentagon officials as saying early this month that the crew of a U.S. Navy ship stopped a massive Iranian arms shipment dead in its tracks, seizing thousands of weapons, AK-47 rifles and rocket-propelled grenade launchers that likely were headed to Yemen.
The seizure, which unfolded in the Arabian Sea on March 28, was the third of its kind in recent weeks, military officials say. Iran has been supporting Houthi rebels in Yemen in their proxy war against a Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States.
The Navy said the shipment included 1,500 AK-47s, 200 rocket-propelled grenade launchers and 21 .50-caliber machine guns.
During a visit to the region, US Secretary of State, John Kerry said on Thursday that Iran needs to stop its destabilizing activities in the region.
“We call on Iran to prove to the world that it wants to be a constructive member of the international community,” said Kerry.
He said Tehran should help end the war in Yemen, ’not prolong it,’ and help end the war in Syria, ’not intensify it.’
Kerry said there was no pretense that the nuclear deal would erase other challenges with Iran.
