
Cleric Ayoub Ganji, writer and former prayer leader of the Ghoba Mosque in the city of Sanandaj in Iran’s Kurdistan Province, has been returned to prison. Based on a report wired by the Mukerian News Agency on July 10th, Cleric Ganji was released from prison to receive medical treatment for lung infection and asthma and is now returned to prison. It is said he was hospitalized for one week in Sanandaj’s Toheed Hospital and later transferred to another hospital in Tehran for further treatment.
It should be noted that Ayoub Ganji, detained in the central prison of the city of Hamedan (western Iran), was convicted by the Hamedan Special Clerical Court under charges of “acting against state security” and “publishing lies in an attempt to create anxiety amongst the public”.
