15 aftershocks in the span of 6 hours followed the 5 Richter earthquake that struck Kerman in central Iran at 12:15 pm on Thursday, December 1st.
Two of the aftershocks were above 3 on the Richter scale, trembling the cities of Zarand and Sirjan. These aftershocks inflicted serious damages to people’s homes, breaking many doors and windows.
The massive 2003 Bam earthquake and the Zarand earthquake afterwards left tens of thousands of people killed in these two cities.
