Amnesty International condemned Public execution of 4 in Southern Iran

Agence France Presse reported that in a statement, Amnesty International (AI) condemned the Iranian regime for public execution of four inmates in Berazjan, southern Iranian city.

The AI statement partly reads: In January, Iran’s judiciary chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahrudi decreed that public executions would only be carried out with his approval and “based on social necessities.”

AI asked the Iranian regime’s officials to stop public executions as well as fully annulment of death sentences in Iran

Amnesty International reported that in 2007 Iran applied the death penalty more often than any other country apart from China, executing 317 people during the year.
