Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned Tuesday that a power vacuum is imminent in Iraq and said that Tehran was ready to help fill the gap.

Although Ahmadinejad did not elaborate how Iran would fill an eventual power gap in Iraq, his bold remarks reflected what may be perceived as Iran’s eagerness to have an increasing influence on its neighbor’s political scene.
