Ahmadinejad’s expected visit to Baghdad has been suspended after widespread political and social protests across Iraq and calls for protest demonstrations, coinciding with increasing tensions inside the Iranian regime’s hierarchy. Despite news published in this regard, Ahmadinejad said in an interview his visit to Iraq is not yet definite.
On October 31st, one state-run media wrote citing Ahmadinejad’s remarks after a cabinet meeting, “Ahmadinejad said regarding the destination of his trips abroad: ‘God willing we will be going to Indonesia next week and in less than three weeks we will be headed to Pakistan. After that our destination is Iraq, of course this trip has not become definite yet’.”
