RIYADH — Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir said that the visit to France by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and interior minister, was a huge success.
There was conformity of opinions on solving many Middle East issues, he said.
“Views of the two countries were identical on all topics that were discussed including the issues of Syria, Iraq, Iran’s interference in the affairs of the region, Yemen, Libya and the fight against terrorism,” Jubeir stressed.
The two sides were also unanimous on bilateral cooperation in the fields of security, military, economic and the political consultation, the foreign minister said, noting that this reflects the strategic and historical relations between the two countries and the desire of the leaders of the two countries to enhance and intensify these relations in all fields.
Jubeir said that the stand of the Kingdom and France with regard to Syria and supporting the Syrian opposition was identical and complementary to each other.
“According to Saudi Arabia, France and most other countries, there must be a ceasefire to start the political process of the transition of power in Syria under the principles of Geneva-2 because there is no future for Bashar Al-Assad in the new Syria,” he reiterated.
