In her second day of trip to Belgium, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, met with Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, vice president of the European Parliament, and a number of other members of EP.
On Wednesday morning, at the time of her entrance to the European Parliament HQ in Brussels, Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras and a delegation of European Parliament representatives welcomed Mrs. Rajavi.
In the meeting session, addressing Mrs. Rajavi, Dr. Vidal-Quadras said: I want to thank you for coming again to EU. We hosted you in Strasburg before, and now we host you in Brussels. Your victory in the Proscribed Organization’s Appeal Court (POAC) of England was our victory; because we, as defenders of freedom, human rights, and equal rights of men and women, consider your victory a victory for ourselves. We deeply believe that the terrorist tag entitles the regime ruling Iran, not the Iranian Resistance.
Referring to the approval of the UN General Assembly resolution in condemnation of human rights violation by the Iranian retime, Mr. Quadras said: I have the honor to announce that more than 700 representatives from 25 European countries, 200 of whom are the EU members, have condemned human rights violation in Iran by signing a statement. Mrs. President Maryam Rajavi! I am very glad that you are here today, and very glad for the great victories that we have had in England and European Parliament which indicate there is no basis for enlisting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) in the terrorist list.
In this meeting , besides the vice president of the European Parliament, a number of EU representatives from different parliamentary groups including Struan Stevenson Vice President of the EPP-ED Group, Paulo Casaca, Portuguese member of the European Parliament and Co-Chair of Friends of a Free Iran, Janus Uniskowich, vice president of EU’s Foreign Commission from Poland, Mogens Camre, vice president of Europe’s Union for Nations(UEN) in EU from Denmark and Tone Klam , chairman of delegation of European People’s Party from Estonia were present .
Appreciating Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, Mrs. Rajavi referred to the of UN General Assembly resolution on condemnation of anti-human crimes of the mullahs’ regime, and reminded the urgent and rightful will of the Iranian people for change and riddance of that regime and said: I think we all agree that the solution is the main issue. Our word is the Third Option, i.e. neither appeasement, nor the foreign war, rather the democratic change by the Iranian people and Resistance.
Mrs. Rajavi also pointed out to the PMOI’s situation and the democratic Islam against fundamentalism and the reactionary regime ruling Iran and said: The PMOI which is the main force of the Resistance and relies on a democratic Islam is the political and cultural anti-thesis of the mullahs’ regime. That is why 5.2 million Iraqis signed a declaration in support of the PMOI in June 2006, and recently 300,000 southern Iraqi Shiites signed a similar petition.
