Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s message to the New York rally

Maryam Rajavi Website, 24 Sep 2013

Dear Compatriots, friends and
Sympathizers of the resistance,

I salute you all
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to members of the Senate and House of Representatives distinguished American personalities such as Mayor Giuliani, Congressman Patrick Kennedy, Ambassador Bolton, Francis Townsend, Mr. Steel, Senator Torricelli as well as all my compatriots for their solidarity after the massacre of 52 Ashrafies.

Your gathering today is an outcry, to ask why are the UN and US hosting a mullah, who participated in the decision making for the massacre of the Ashrafies?
A mullah who since becoming president, more than 160 have been executed in Iran.

He has intensified the suppression of women by forced veiling and has supported the IRGC and regime’s meddling in Syria, at a time that the cooperation of the mullahs regime with Syria’s dictatorship in the massacre of innocent people by using chemical weapons has provoked an international outrage.
Rouhani’s conduct has proved that there is no change.
Unfortunately the US government has adapted a policy which has failed in the past 3 decades. We warn them that do not pay the price of fruitless appeasement and deals with mullahs by the lives of the best children of the Iranian people.
I would like to particularly highlight the importance and priority of freeing the 7 Ashrafi hostages. We do not have much time.

According to recent information, they are being kept in a prison by Special Forces of the Iraqi Prime minister. Nouri- Maliki’s government is trying to deny any knowledge of their condition, in order to pave the way for their extradition to Iran.

The US Government and President Obama have responsibility for the safety of the seven hostages. I forewarn, the fate of these hostages will pave the way for other catastrophes.

I call on President Obama and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to act on their responsibility and break their silence; and use their influence in Iraq to take vital and urgent measures in order to:

First- immediately release the hostages.
Second- Station a UN monitoring team and UN Blue Helmets in Liberty round the clock.
Third- immediately install seventeen thousand five hundred T-walls in Liberty and transfer other necessary security equipments.
Forth- the UNHCR declare all members of PMOI in Liberty as political refugees.
Fifth- Right to ownership of residents on their movable and immovable assets in Ashraf and the right to sell them must be guaranteed.
Sixth: The UN Secretary General must put at the UN agenda an independent investigation about the massacre of Ashraf in a define time frame.

My dear compatriots,
Dear friends of the Iranian Resistance,
My dear brothers and sisters who I know have been spurred forward a hundred times over due to the heroic martyrdom of 52 PMOI members and who have vowed to overthrow the religious dictatorship in Iran,
Dear compatriots who have gathered today to express the Iranian people’s indignation and contempt for the leaders of the religious fascism who have come to the UN,
Dear prestigious friends and supporters of the Iranian Resistance,
I salute your gathering today.
Your gathering is the voice and cry of the Iranian people for freedom which today is silenced by the repression and savagery of the religious dictatorship in Iran.
Your gathering is the voice of our brave freedom-fighters who have today the world’s praise for their courageous stand.
You present a united voice to the world, emanating from Camp Liberty to all political prisons throughout Iran, from Iranian cities and villages to your sit-ins and hunger strikes and protest gatherings in Europe, Australia, and Canada. This is the voice of the Iranian people that is crying out that the regime of religious dictatorship must end. We have vowed to overthrow this regime and all its factions and cliques, and so it shall be.
Shame on the United Nations for hosting the president of an anti-human dictatorship in its General Assembly session! This regime has executed over 120,000 of Iran’s sons and daughters. It has repeatedly engaged in crimes against humanity and genocide and is to this day directing violence and massacres in Syria on a daily basis.
Why is the United Nations mocking human rights by hosting the worst and most merciless murderers of the world rather than defending human rights?
Why has the US Government opened its doors to a mullah that leads a regime which is the main source and supporter of terrorism in the world today? A mullah who has been at the center of all decisions in the past three decades to commit repression against the Iranian people, including the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988, the killings of student protesters, waging terrorist violence outside Iran and massacring unarmed residents of Camp Ashraf recently.
The present US Administration launched its Iran policy about 5 years ago by extending its hand towards the backward Iranian religious dictator. But the Iranian regime’s answer has been to spread its aggression and fundamentalism in the region and to increase terrorism throughout the world. It even went as far as plotting a terrorist attack against the Saudi Ambassador in the heart of Washington DC.
But the US Administration has again resumed its all too clear bankrupt policy of letter-writing to the regime’s new president and welcoming his empty gestures.
After the sham elections last June, we said: Nothing will change without establishment of freedom and human rights, and for as long as the regime’s aggressive policy in Syria and Iraq and nuclear bomb continues.
We see though that after two months of this new president’s rule the hanging of Iranian youth in the streets continues unabated, the repression and summary arrests of women and youth on charges of bad-dressing has become even more widespread, and the new president of this regime has mounted an emphatic defense of his regime’s hegemonic goals in Syria, its nuclear program, and its military apparatus of the IRGC. In return, he plays games with the people’s calls for freeing all political prisoners by releasing a few prisoners. Unfortunately, the US Administration has put its faith in such deceptions and closes its eyes to freedom, resistance, and human rights in Iran.
It is scandalously shameful to see so much flattering of the mullahs when they are not only showing no inkling of moderation but not even pretending to anything close to it.
This has outstripped even the well-known former appeasement policy. This is nothing more than a demagogic effort to avoid paying the price of a correct policy vis-à-vis the religious fascism ruling Iran.
Unfortunately, however, no amount of demagoguery or self-deception or callous games can substitute for a correct policy and there can be no other outcome other than portending threats to world peace and security.
We challenge them that if they can make the mullahs retreat from their nuclear program one step then they should not hesitate in pursuing this policy. But closing your eyes to this regime’s crimes and that of its proxy in Iraq is unacceptable. I, therefore, caution that you should not sacrifice the Iranian people’s interests to chase the red herring of negotiations with this regime.

Friends of the Iranian Resistance,
Twenty-three days have passed since the start of hunger strikes and sit-ins in Camp Liberty and key cities throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, and Australia to protest the kidnapping of seven members of the PMOI, and this movement has drawn the attention of many people in the world to this most important matter.
The United Nations and the United States of America have in these past years repeatedly violated their promises of protection and security for the PMOI/MEK. Now too they are playing the shameful role of silent bystanders. There is no better gift that can be given to the hostage-takers and killers in Baghdad and their puppet masters in Tehran than this silence.
The US and UN silence can only be interpreted as a denial of this kidnapping at a time that the twin dictatorships of Iran and Iraq refuse to accept responsibility for it.
Gentlemen, please don’t continue this shameful position more than you already have.
Rest assured that details of what is happening behind the curtain will be unveiled and those who have deliberately closed their eyes on this crime will be disgraced.
I strongly call on the United States to make the Iraqi government to release the hostages.

The mullahs in Tehran are today frightened by the prospect of their demise and this increases the insecurity and vulnerability of Camp Liberty, particularly since Maleki and Khamenei have now focused their plots on Liberty after the massacre at Ashraf and seek to annihilate the PMOI/MEK members as a way of exiting this crisis which threatens them with overthrow.
I, therefore, call on the international community, particularly on the UN and US, to use their influence to station a UN monitoring team with Blue Helmet forces in Liberty until the final departure of all residents in order to provide for their security in this camp.

Dear Compatriots,
Dear Friends,
The epic of 1st September and the pure blood of 52 Ashrafi heroines and heroes bears a clear message that calls us to steadfastness, determination, and belief in the overthrow of the religious dictatorship regime in Iran and the realization of freedom and democracy.
I call on all of you to double your efforts in living up to the outstanding example set by the 52 heroines and heroes of Ashraf’s galaxy of martyrs.
I call on you to uphold the banner of Ashraf and to advance the struggle for freedom with a determination and will a hundred times stronger than before.

Hail to Freedom
Hail to Iran’s Freedom Fighters, the Mojahedin of Iran
Hail to the People of Iran
I salute you all
